MISSION STATEMENT

NYCROATS.COM strives to provide a virtual community for the Croatian-American public to share information, news, events and happenings with the Croatian populace in the New York tri-state area and beyond.

NYCROATS.COM only succeeds in this mission thanks to the constant support and information supplied by our members and site visitors. When we act as a community, we are making ourselves that much stronger--for this we thank you.

HISTORY

Our NYCROATS.COM organization was founded on September 12, 2001. To this date, 2007, we have grown to a number of seven ambitious volunteers.

Our staff of volunteers is a group of young, Croatian American professionals, who are dedicated members of our community, and who have been bringing to light an enormous paradigm of Croatian cultural expressions.

Our primary goal is to promote Croatian culture- through events and related activities- to the Croatian American Community in the Tri-State area and beyond. Our staff has started with recording stories of Croatian singers, writers, athletes and artists, interviewing the bearers of family and community traditions, promoting family and community rituals, performances, objects of beauty on film and in writing, and thus unearthing a priceless candor of our people’s living traditions.

STAFF BIOGRAPHIES

Eddy Micich  
Mate, born in New Jersey, USA, is a Pisces who enjoys black & white photography, snorkling, Tae Kwon Do, and beach volleyball. His family is originally from Zadar and Fažana, Croatia. Mate holds a BA in Communication from William Paterson University. In addition to NYCROATS, Mate is a consultant in the Information Technology industry. His favorite cocktail is Sex on the Beach.

Mike Salov  
Mike, born in New Jersey, USA, is a Libra who enjoys spending time outdoors, photography, traveling and occasional tinkering with computers. His family is originally from Nin and Privlaka, Croatia. Mike holds a BS in Engineering from Rutgers University. In addition to NYCROATS, Mike is a consultant in the Information Technology industry. His favorite drink is an ice cold Karlovačko.

John M. Mocibob  
John, born in New York, USA, is an Aquarius who enjoys gadgets, football, cooking, fine wine, and cigars. His family is originally from Karojba (Istra), Croatia. John holds an AOS in Systems Management from the College of Westchester and a BS in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. In addition to NYCROATS, John is the owner of a business and technology consultancy. John's favorite cocktail is Johnnie Black & Ginger Ale.

Marko Pavlovic   
Marko, born in New York, USA, is a Libra who enjoys cars, computers, sports, astronomy, gadgets & gizmos, and business. His family is originally from Petrcane (Dalmacija) and Osekovo (Moslavina), Croatia. Marko has a BS in Information Systems Engineering from Stony Brook University. In addition to NYCROATS, Marko is the owner of a computer manufacturing and service company. Marko's favorite cocktail is Soco & Lime.

Marko Galovic  
Marko, born in Vinkovci, lives and works in Zupanja, Croatia; is a Taurus who enjoys shooting some pool, playing football, reading about WW II history... He has a soft spot for small and fast cars, and spends most of his free time tuning up his car. Marko holds a BA in English and German language and literature from the University of Osijek, and is a permanent court interpreter for English and German language. He works as a teacher at the vocational school. Marko's favorite drink is vodka on the rocks.

Lara Magzan  
Lara, born in Metkovic, grew up in North Africa, lives and works in New York City. Lara is a Capricorn who enjoys sailing, traveling and taking photos. She holds a BA in Mass Media from Brenau University and currently works as a Digital Video Producer for CNNmoney. In addition to NYCROATS, Lara is a co-owner of satellite phone rental company, Adventure Cell. Lara enjoys a glass of wine or champagne.

Kristian Pavlovic  
Kristian, born in Manhattan , NY and enjoys art, graphic gesign, music, swimming, travelling, motorcycles, and anything adventerous.
His family is from Petrcane, and Rijeka or better yet Ceprljanda (Ugljan). Kristian studied Graphic Design & Advertising at Briarcliffe College followed by SVA (School of Visual Arts). Kristian's favorite drink is Sprite & Smirnoff, or Jameson whiskey.
